The Lesotho Institute of Accountants (LIA) and the Council on Higher Education (CHE) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen the regulation of accounting qualifications and address gaps in the industry.
Under the agreement, LIA will provide technical expertise to help CHE assess accounting programmes and identify unregulated courses that could mislead students. The MOU was signed in Maseru on Wednesday with CHE Chief Executive Dr Moeketsi Letele leading the Council’s delegation, while LIA was represented by Ms Malisebo Ntlhokoe.
The agreement has no fixed expiry date but will be reviewed every three years.
