Lesotho to Host 17th SADCOPAC Annual General Meeting

Lesotho is set to host the 17th Annual General Meeting of Public Accounts
Committees (PACs) from across the Southern African region, under the Southern
African Development Community Organization of Public Accounts Committees
(SADCOPAC). The meeting will take place from October 27 to 30 at the
‘Mathabiseng Convention Centre in Maseru.
The Chairperson of Lesotho’s PAC, Hon. ‘Machabana Lemphane Letsie said PACs
within the SADC region came together in 2003 to form SADCOPAC, with the goal of
meeting annually to share insights, address challenges, and learn best practices
from other PACs across member countries.
She highlighted that this is the first time Lesotho will host the annual meeting since
becoming a member of SADCOPAC, and noted that Lesotho also currently holds the
position of Deputy Secretary within the organization.
Meanwhile, PAC committee member Dr. Ts’eliso Moroke emphasized the
importance of Basotho understanding the role and empowerment of PACs in
ensuring that public funds are managed properly and transparently.
He said through collaboration with incoming delegates, Lesotho’s committee will
benefit by sharpening its skills and capacity.
