Mohale FM The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations, Limpho Tau, has reaffirmed Lesotho’s commitment to strengthening diplomatic and economic relations with India during the inauguration of Dr. Biju Korah as the new Honorary Consul of the Republic of India to the Kingdom of Lesotho.
Speaking at the ceremony in Maseru on Friday, Tau congratulated Dr. Korah on his appointment, describing it as an important milestone in the longstanding friendship between the two countries.
The Minister noted that Lesotho and India established formal diplomatic relations in 1971, although the friendship between the two nations dates back much earlier through the Indian community, which has contributed significantly to Lesotho’s development, particularly in business and education.
On the other hand, Dr. Korah indicated that he was honored to accept the appointment and pledged to deepen cooperation between the two nations. He said his priorities include attracting Indian investment into key sectors such as manufacturing, agriculture, renewable energy, technology and healthcare while promoting tourism, education and business partnerships.
The appointment is expected to boost communication between the two countries and further strengthen relations that have continued to grow over the past five decades.
