Lesotho Marks Major Breakthrough in HIV Prevention with Lenacapavir Handover

Lesotho has reached a significant milestone in its fight against HIV and AIDS with the official handover of Lenacapavir, a ground-breaking innovation in HIV prevention and treatment. Senior government officials, development partners, and representatives of various health organisations, attended the hand-over ceremony, held at National Drug Service Organization (NDSO), in Mafeteng.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Nthomeng Majara emphasised the importance of introducing Lenacapavir into the country’s HIV response.
She noted that Lesotho has made commendable progress over the years in combating HIV and AIDS, largely due to sustained collaboration between the government, development agencies, and implementing partners.

The procurement of Lenacapavir was made possible through vital support from the Dover Fund, the U.S. Department of State, and other international partners.
