The Ministry of Energy and Mining, through the Lesotho Electricity Generation Company (LEGCO), officially announced the launch of Phase II of the Ramarothole Solar Power Project, a major milestone in the country’s renewable energy journey.
The launch will take place on the 10 July 2026, marking a significant step towards energy self-sufficiency and sustainable development.
A key feature of the project is the inclusion of an 8MW Battery Energy Storage System. This advanced system will enable the storage of excess electricity produced during daylight hours, making it available for use at night.
As the country continues to expand its renewable energy infrastructure, it moves closer to its goal of achieving energy independence and supporting a sustainable future for its citizens.
