Lesotho will commemorates the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD).
The event, scheduled for June 17 at Sebitia in the Berea district, aims to galvanize national and international support for restoring degraded landscapes and enhancing drought resilience. It also honors the traditional stewards—pastoralists—whose sustainable practices have preserved these ecosystems for generations.
This year’s observance underscores the vital importance of sustainable land management, especially within the framework of the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists (IYRP).
Under the theme “Rangelands, Recognize, Respect, Restore.”, Lesotho emphasizes the ecological, cultural, and economic significance of its rangelands.
