Leribe man arrested for ritual murder of woman

A MAN has been arrested in connection with the brutal murder of a Leribe woman, allegedly in a plot to harvest her body parts for ritual purposes in exchange for M29 000.

The 42-year-old suspect from Tsikoane in Leribe is in police custody after allegedly leading investigators to the spot near Ha Ntho village where the woman’s decomposing body was discovered

Police say the killing was aimed at obtaining human breasts for ritual trade. The deceased, whose identity has not yet been officially released pending family notification, was reported missing on 3 February this year and was found dead on Thursday.

Police sources say she was last seen walking with her alleged killer, who later became the prime suspect in the case.
During preliminary investigations, the suspect allegedly confessed to killing the woman, claiming he had been instructed by a traditional healer to obtain human breasts for ritual purposes in return for M29 000.

The suspect was arrested while allegedly attempting to flee to South Africa by crossing the Mohokare River near Tabola village.
