The Lesotho Defence Force has welcomed home its Taekwondo team following their participation in a tournament in the Kingdom of Eswatini, and its marathon team after competing in Durban, South Africa.
The teams were officially received by the Chief of Operations, Training and Force Preparation, Major General Khomo Mohobo, who commended the athletes for representing both the Lesotho Defence Force and the country with discipline and dedication on the international stage.
Speaking on behalf of the marathon team, Private Masiu said the athletes continue to gain valuable international experience through competitions in South Africa. He noted that one of his best performances came in the Eastern Cape, where he finished third with a personal best time of 29 minutes and 40 seconds, on 10 kilometers run. He added that he has also competed in the Mangaung Marathon, saying such events help improve performance and prepare athletes for future competitions.
The Lesotho Defence Force says it remains committed to promoting sport as a means of strengthening physical fitness, discipline and excellence among its members while raising Lesotho’s profile in regional and international competitions.
