Kolonyama shaken as two people are shot dead

The Member of Parliament for Kolonyama, Mahlathini Lempe, has visited the families of two people who were shot dead at Ha Leboea, Kolonyama in Leribe.

Mr Lempe said he was alerted to the incident around 9am on Sunday and went to the bereaved families the following day. He explained that a woman was shot inside her home, while a 24-year-old man, her neighbour, was killed as he walked by talking on the phone. The suspects allegedly shot him fearing he might report them.

Police arrived at the scene and have launched investigations. A local resident, speaking anonymously, said the community is living in fear as shootings around Kolonyama have become frequent, leaving many children orphaned.

Meanwhile, another resident remains in critical condition from fire burns after escaping a house fire at Ha Nnena, Kolonyama three days ago.
