KING LETSIE III PLANTS TREES TO CELEBRATE 59 YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE

His Majesty King Letsie III, together with Queen ’Masenate Mohato Seeiso, Prime Minister Ntsokoane Matekane, and other government officials, led a tree-planting ceremony at Thaba-Bosiu on Saturday 04 October 2025, as part of Lesotho’s 59th Independence Day celebrations.
The event drew Basotho from different parts of the country, who joined the initiative aimed at promoting patriotism and national unity while commemorating the country’s independence.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, sent a congratulatory message to Lesotho and its people on this significant occasion. He noted that on this historic day, the African Union stands in solidarity with the Basotho nation in celebrating its journey of independence, unity, and resilience.
