His Majesty King Letsie III today officially inaugurated the 16th Council of the National University of Lesotho (NUL) during a ceremony held at the university’s Roma campus in Maseru.
In his address, the King congratulated the newly appointed Council, describing its mandate as a significant responsibility that requires dedicated individuals committed to strengthening and advancing the university.
He said the Council, as the institution’s governing body, must uphold the highest standards of integrity and diligence in carrying out its responsibilities. He urged members to exercise the authority entrusted to them ethically and to work collaboratively in the best interests of the university.
His Majesty further emphasised that the Council’s decisions should be guided by the principles of transparency and accountability, while ensuring that the university’s governance and leadership continue to promote excellence in teaching, research, innovation, and meaningful community engagement.
