Former Tanzanian president Jakaya Kikwete has begun a three-day visit to Tabora to inspect a community health initiative expected to improve access to care for more than 36,000 rural residents.
The Jamii Salama project includes a mobile clinic, a newly built dispensary and staff accommodation in Sikonge and Uyui districts. It is being implemented by the Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete Foundation with national and regional health authorities.
The project is aimed at bringing primary healthcare services closer to remote communities that have long faced access challenges.
