admin KHANYA leader Mohopoli Monokoane says a nation that is food-secure and self-sufficient is less vulnerable to manipulation and cannot easily be used as a political tool.
Speaking in Maseru yesterday, Mr. Monokoane said the party is heading to Mohale’s Hoek to prepare for its community outreach programme scheduled for Sunday. During the visit, party representatives will engage with local residents and community organizations to hear their views and concerns.
He said the tour will also provide an opportunity to introduce an agricultural pilot project in the Majantja area. According to Mr. Monokoane, the initiative aims to assess whether agriculture can help reduce poverty, create employment opportunities, and transform farming into a viable business venture.
He added that the project will focus on producing high-quality agricultural products for both local consumption and export to international markets.
Mr. Monokoane said the initiative aligns with the Ministry of Agriculture’s policy of making agriculture the backbone of Lesotho’s economy by strengthening domestic production and improving the country’s food self-sufficiency.
