Iran has protested after its nuclear chief Mohammad Eslami was prevented from attending the International Atomic Energy Agency’s General Conference in Vienna because a sanctions exemption was not approved.
Austria said the request had been rejected through the United Nations sanctions process, while Tehran described the decision as political. The dispute comes amid continuing tensions over international inspections of Iran’s nuclear programme and adds another layer of friction between Iran and Western governments.
