Mohale FM The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) yesterday officially opened its new Regional Office in Mohale’s Hoek, marking another important milestone in the Commission’s ongoing efforts to decentralize electoral services and strengthen its presence across Lesotho.
Speaking during the official opening, the Chairperson of IEC, Rev. Dr John Maphephe welcomed Commissioners, the Acting Director of Elections, stakeholders, Commission’s staff, members of media and invited guests, expressing appreciation for their support and participation in this significant occasion.
The Chairperson emphasized that the establishment of Regional offices demonstrates the Commission’s commitment to making electoral services more accessible, efficient and responsive to the needs of citizens.
He said by bringing services closer to communities, the Commission aims to improve service delivery, strengthen engagement with political parties and other stakeholders, and enhance the overall administration of elections.
During the programme, guests toured the new facility, reflecting the Commission’s commitment to transparency, accountability and prudent investment in public resources.
Rev. Dr Maphephe acknowledged the dedication of management and staff whose efforts ensured that the office was fully prepared for operational readiness.
