IEC Conducts Constituency Assessment Visits Ahead of Voter Registration Drive

The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has launched constituency assessment visits across the country as part of preparations for its upcoming voter registration intensification programme.

In a statement issued yesterday, the IEC said the visits are aimed at evaluating the readiness of constituencies ahead of the registration exercise, which is expected to begin soon. The assessments will involve engagement with IEC staff and key stakeholders, while also identifying any logistical or administrative challenges that may affect the smooth implementation of voter registration activities.

The Commission says the programme forms part of its ongoing efforts to ensure that all eligible Basotho have adequate opportunities to register and participate fully in the country’s democratic processes.

As part of strengthening its oversight mechanisms, the IEC has also deployed Commissioners to designated regions and strategic portfolios. The move is intended to improve coordination, regional supervision, and leadership across electoral operations.
