The Hollywood African Cinema Connection will bring a programme of African and Middle Eastern films to Cape Town from October 30 to November 2, with this year’s festival focusing on land, heritage and displacement.
IOL Entertainment reported that the 2026 theme, Our Land, Our Heritage, will frame a selection of 10 feature films. The festival opens with Iraqi director Mohamed Jabarah Al-Daradji’s Irkalla: Gilgamesh’s Dream and closes with Suzannah Mirghani’s Cotton Queen, which follows women in a Sudanese cotton-farming community.
Creative director Weaam Williams said the programme was chosen for distinctive storytelling and strong directorial voices, with four of the 10 features directed by women.
