The government says including women and girls in developing innovative solutions is key to ending hunger, improving food security and reducing unemployment in Lesotho.
Speaking at the launch of the Improving Adaptive Capacity of Vulnerable and Food Insecure Populations project in Maseru, Environment and Forestry Minister, Letsema Adontši, said empowering women and girls in climate adaptation and sustainable livelihoods will strengthen household food production and income generation.
He said women and girls are among the most affected by climate change and food insecurity, making their involvement in decision-making critical. Agriculture, Food Security and Nutrition Minister, Thabo Mofosi, also stressed the need to ensure women and youth have access to land, finance and training to participate in food production and job creation.
He said government must strengthen policies and strategies to ensure women and young people are not left behind in efforts to reduce hunger, poverty and unemployment
