Government of Lesotho raises deep concern over ongoing conflict in Middle East

The Kingdom of Lesotho has issued an official statement expressing deep concern over the escalating security situation in the Middle East.

In a statement released today by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Relations in Maseru, Lesotho warned that the ongoing conflict poses serious regional and global security, humanitarian, and economic risks.

The government says the developments threaten international peace and the core principles of the United Nations Charter.

Lesotho is calling on all parties involved to exercise maximum restraint and to return to dialogue aimed at achieving a peaceful resolution.

The statement further urges de-escalation, an immediate ceasefire, and the protection of civilians in full compliance with international law.

The government also expressed support for regional and multilateral peace initiatives to prevent further deterioration of the situation. It emphasized the need for a unified and principled international response.

Additionally, Lesotho noted with concern what it described as unprovoked attacks on the territorial integrity and sovereignty of other states.

As a self-described peace-loving nation and strong advocate of a rules-based international order, Lesotho has called on all parties to recommit to diplomacy, cooperation, and the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter.

The statement concludes by reaffirming Lesotho’s conviction that sustainable international peace and security can only be achieved through dialogue and respect for international law.
