The government says Lesotho deliberately boycotted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to the United Nations General Assembly as a protest against Israel’s military campaign in Gaza.
Foreign Affairs and International Relations Minister Limpho Tau says Lesotho condemned the 7 October 2023 Hamas attack on Israel, but strongly disagrees with Israel’s military response in Gaza.
He says Lesotho joined other countries in staying away from Netanyahu’s address as a coordinated expression of displeasure over Israel’s conduct in Palestine.
