The Gates Foundation has committed at least one billion US dollars over the next two years to ensure artificial intelligence benefits poorer countries and does not widen global inequality.
The funding will focus on four areas: 400 million dollars for healthcare tools for frontline workers, 400 million for education tools for teachers, 100 million for agricultural applications for farmers, and 100 million to develop datasets in underserved languages.
Africa is expected to be among the major beneficiaries.
