Gaps in the justice system continue to affect people with disabilities, including limited access to information, communication challenges, inaccessible court facilities and procedural barriers.
The Persons with Disability Advisory Council (PWDAC) and the Lesotho Law Society have signed a memorandum of understanding in Maseru to improve access to justice for people with disabilities.
PWDAC Human Rights Manager Advocate Lerato Ramoholi says the Law Society will work with PWDAC on cases where people with disabilities previously faced challenges in accessing legal assistance.
Ramoholi says the partnership will also promote awareness of disability rights among legal practitioners and help ensure that rights provided by law are effectively enforced.
