Spain forward Ferran Torres headlines the 30-man shortlist for the men’s Ballon d’Or after playing a decisive role in his country’s World Cup success.
SuperSport reports that Torres, who scored in the World Cup final, is one of six members of Spain’s title-winning squad included among the nominees. Rodri and Lamine Yamal are also on the list.
Paris Saint-Germain are strongly represented after another high-profile season, while Lionel Messi has received a record-extending 17th nomination. Cristiano Ronaldo is not among this year’s contenders.
The winner will be announced at the Ballon d’Or ceremony at the London Palladium on 26 October, with the shortlist bringing together leading performers from club and international football.
