By: Moorosi Tsiane
Mafeteng man has taken the mafeteng district hospital to the high court accusing its staff of secretly testing his twin minor children for HIV without his consent.
The father whose names are withheld is demanding M500 000 in damages for what he describes as a humiliating and unlawful violation of their dignity and privacy.
According to the papers filed the ordeal occurred on the 11 April 2025 when the children were taken to the hospital by their nanny for treatment of nose blockage and body rash.
It said that the staff member identified only as Ralefifi conducted the test without any consent neither cancelation or explanation to the children. The father explained that when demanding answers, he did not get any.
The law suit claims that Ralefifi’s actions amounted to gross violation of the children’s constitutional rights to dignity, privacy and bodily integrity. The father further argues that the incident has caused emotional and psychological trauma to the minors, hence the M500 000 claim for damages.
