The High Court sitting at Ts’ifa-li-Mali in Leribe yesterday continued hearing a case linked to Famo gang violence, in which Lebohang Kao stands accused of the brutal murder of Relebohile Mabusetsa in 2024.
According to witness testimony, the two men had an ongoing dispute related to Famo music. On the day of the incident, they were at a local bar in Thabang, Mokhotlong, where an argument reportedly broke out over a song that was playing. Witnesses stated that although the disagreement became heated, no one actually saw Mabusetsa being physically attacked before his death.
In a separate development, the chief of Ha Mokokoana in Leribe, Chief Pabala Mokokoana, has voiced concern over what he described as the growing tendency of communities to sideline traditional leadership.
The chief expressed shock over a recent case in which a 14-year-old girl was sexually abused in his area. He noted that, despite the seriousness of the incident, three days had passed without any formal report being made to his office by the family.
Speaking to Mohale FM yesterday, Chief Mokokoana emphasized that timely reporting enables him to act swiftly and work with authorities to ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice.
