A family member of Commando Corporal (CPL) Molise Molieleng, Mr. Nkatsoe Molieleng, has revealed that the late soldier had travelled from Lesotho to visit relatives in Diepkloof, South Africa, although the exact date of his departure remains unclear.
Mr. Molieleng explained that the family was left devastated upon learning of his death. He stated that Molieleng’s wife had contacted his uncles in Diepkloof to confirm his arrival, but they indicated that he had not reached them.
He further recounted that on a Thursday, he received a phone call from one of Molieleng’s friends, who confirmed that the soldier had passed away.
At this stage, the family has refrained from assigning blame to either the Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) or illegal miners, citing a lack of clarity about the circumstances surrounding his death.
Mr. Molieleng has appealed to both the government and the Lesotho Defence Force to conduct a thorough investigation to establish the truth.
He also disclosed that, with the support of his family, Cpl Molieleng had applied for early retirement due to challenges he had been experiencing at work, where he reportedly no longer felt safe.
