Taxpayers in Eswatini are indirectly helping the Public Service Pensions Fund recover its investment in a major Mbabane property through government rental commitments.
The PSPF acquired the six-level former ESASCCO building above the Mbabane bus rank after government committed to occupy office space there. The arrangement has drawn criticism from the Trade Union Congress of Swaziland, which argues that public revenue will effectively help the fund recoup its capital outlay.
The building provides more than 13,000 square metres of office space, while government says the lease aligns with commitments made before the acquisition.
