Mohale FM Chief Justice Sakoane Sakoane says the justice sector has made significant strides in improving access to courts for people with disabilities, who have long faced barriers due to the design and construction of many court buildings.
He said the challenge has been addressed through the newly inaugurated High Court in Mohale’s Hoek, which officially opened last month. The new facility has been designed to be fully accessible, allowing people with disabilities to enter, move around, and exit the building with ease.
Chief Justice Sakoane made the remarks yesterday during the closing session of the Leadership and Accountability Summit at the ‘Manthabiseng Convention Centre in Maseru.
He also urged Members of Parliament to ensure that every constituency has a local court, saying this would help broaden access to justice and bring judicial services closer to all Basotho.
