Competitiveness and Financial Inclusion Project (CAFI), in partnership with the Central Bank of Lesotho, is hosting a two-day workshop that commenced in Maseru today. The aim of the workshop is to improve the quality of economic and financial reporting.
In his opening remarks, CAFI Project Manager Mr. Chaba Mokuku highlighted the milestones the project has achieved to date.
He noted that the main objective of the project rests on three pillars which are improving the business environment, nurturing start-ups and small and medium enterprises, and identifying key sectors capable of boosting Lesotho’s economy.
He also highlighted achieved milestones, which include the best online single-window platform. This platform enables entrepreneurs to register and license businesses on one platform, at the convenience of their own time.
Meanwhile, Senior Economist at the Central Bank of Lesotho, Mr. Realeboha Khamali, spoke on monetary policy in Lesotho and understanding economic and financial indicators. A senior analyst on financial markets also trained journalists on how the Central Bank manages inflation indirectly, as well as market related issues.
