CAFI Project Trains Journalists to Share Progress on Lesotho’s Economic Development Initiatives

The Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Business Development, through the Competitiveness and Financial Inclusion (CAFI) project, held a training workshop for journalists and media practitioners in Maseru on Wednesday this week. The aim was to share the progress and achievements of the project.
The Project Manager, Mr. Chaba Mokuku, stated that the project is funded by the World Bank and is led by the Ministry of Trade to accelerate the implementation of government policies.
He explained that the project is based on three pillars which are the business environment, supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and revitalizing the textile industry and horticulture (fruit and vegetable farming).
Meanwhile, the acting manager of Lesotho entrepreneurship hub and seed financing facility under CAFI Mrs. ‘Mamoriti Phangoa, said 1,250 temporary and permanent jobs have been created through the project.
She emphasized that women and youth are prioritized to be empowered with business skills and support to start and grow the businesses.
CAFI is a five-year project, funded by the World Bank, launched in 2022 and expected to end in 2028.
