Mohale FM More than 150 buses transporting Malawian, Zimbabwean and Zambian migrants are expected to pass through the Beitbridge Border Post in Musina, Limpopo today.
Border Management Authority (BMA) Assistant Commissioner Dr Nkhuliseni Luvhengo says additional immigration officers and border guards from nearby ports of entry have been deployed to assist with processing and deportation procedures.
Luvhengo says several buses were processed and cleared to cross into Zimbabwe this morning.
Meanwhile, taxi umbrella body SANTACO in the Western Cape says taxi operations will continue as normal today.
SANTACO spokesperson Makhosandile Tumana says the organisation is aware of the planned demonstrations, respects the right to peaceful protest and acknowledges public frustrations.
However, Tumana says commuters continue to rely on taxis for daily transport and that services will not be disrupted.
