Basotho start receiving passport collection alerts

Progress appears to be taking shape in the ministry of home affairs, specifically in the Department of Passport Services, as some Basotho are now receiving text messages on their mobile phones notifying them about the status of their passports.

One of them is Mr. Ramohloki Bafokeng from Maseru, who said he received a text message on Monday, informing him that his passport was ready for collection at the office. He said he subsequently went there and successfully collected it.

This comes after Prime Minister Sam Matekane announced during a government accountability forum held last week that passport processing would take four days, and that applicants would receive text message notifications on their phones updating them on the status of their passports.
