At least 50 Malian soldiers and five Russian Africa Corps paramilitaries were killed in a major attack on the Dioura military camp in central Mali, according to security and local sources cited by Africanews.
Some sources put the military death toll higher, while dozens of soldiers were reportedly taken prisoner. The Al-Qaeda-linked JNIM group claimed control of the camp, and Mali later responded with air attacks. The assault is among the deadliest suffered by the Malian army in the country’s long-running conflict.
