African National Congress (ANC) Youth League president Collen Malatji says the longstanding challenge of the open border policy between Lesotho and South Africa requires stronger commitment from authorities in both countries.
Speaking on Mohale FM yesterday about relations between Lesotho and South Africa, Malatji said the matter could be resolved as soon as possible. He urged African leaders to introduce programmes that strengthen cooperation and partnerships among African nations, saying countries on the continent need one another for development.
Malatji also said there should be greater unity between Basotho and South Africans, as well as among all African countries.
He further stated that the ANC Youth League strongly condemns xenophobic attacks against Basotho by some organizations in South Africa as Basotho and South Africans share close historical and cultural ties, including language, and have lived together for generations.
