Mohale FM Lehlohonolo Hlapisi, aged 44 has been charged with the sexual abuse of a girl who was 16 years old at the time of the alleged incident in 2023.
The complainant told the Leribe Magistrate’s Court that a woman who had been hired to care for her and her grandmother introduced her to the accused. She alleged that the woman connected her with Hlapisi after he promised to provide her with food and electricity if she entered into a romantic relationship with him. She said this arrangement led to her involvement with the accused.
The court heard that in December 2023, the complainant reported the matter to her mother, who had recently returned home from South Africa.
The case continues today at the same court, where the complainant’s mother is expected to testify.
